1. Three colleges I would apply to in order to pursue a career in pharmacy:
- Emory University - Atlanta, GA www.emory.edu
- Mercer University - Macon, GA www.mercer.edu (provides pre-pharmacy)
- University of Georgia - Athens, GA www.uga.edu
2. My criteria for a quality program of study: By looking at colleges on CollegeBoard.org, I can learn about the size of colleges, the classes/majors that they offer, and the percentage of those who apply that are admitted. Seeing that percentage tells a lot about the difficulty of being accepted. A low percentage, to me, ensures a quality program of study, because it lets me know that the college only accepts the best of the best to join them.
3. University supporting my criteria - Emory (27% of applicants admitted), while UGA accepts 55% and Mercer 69%
4. Additional entrance requirements for pharmacy include 4-year pharmacy school (to obtain a Pharm.D. title) and pursuing a residency program for 2-4 years
5. My criteria for a quality ranking and educational program -
- Size: medium or large (2,000 to >15,000)
- Location: in Georgia
- Sports: no preference
- Diversity: preferably coed, but all girls is fine, too
- Funding: Pubic would be nice, but private is an option
- Ranking: "...2015 edition of Best Colleges/National Universities, 21" (U.S. News).
- Educational program: Pharmacology
6. Ranking - Emory's molecular & systems pharmacology program is ranked 9th in the United States.
