The "Getting to Know Your Mentor" handout and podcast linked from the HMP student calendar were helpful in regard to preparing for what lies ahead. Soon, I will be able to meet my mentor. First impressions are important. With tips from the handout and podcast, I will be fully ready. I plan on looking professional, smiling, firmly shaking my mentor's hand, and looking at he or she "in the eye," as said in the handout. I also plan on asking questions about why he or she enjoys pharmacy, where he or she went to school, and how long it took to get to where he or she is now.
This mentorship will help me take a step forward in terms of what I want to do for the rest of my life. Choosing a career is a difficult task, but I plan on HMP helping me through it. Gaining experience on sight is an easy way to know what particular fields of work are like in the real world. I plan on completing all weekly assignments on time while frequently blogging about what is going on in the pharmacy where I will be mentoring. By doing these things, I hope to prepare myself for the future in terms of being in the workplace and deciding what workplace that might be.
